My Gorjuss Friend

A good friend of mine has just launched her small scale clothing label for little girls.

She has been sewing for longer than I have been on this earth and she has such cute designs that I wanted to just shout out a big hoooraaahhhh, about time! to her.

You will find limited designs and sizes (feel free to contact Linda if you want something made in a different size to what is in the shop as she is still setting up) on great fabrics and such a cute model to show off her fabulous designs!
So I would love it if you could show her some support and drop by her blog and take a look or her shop.

Easter Fun!

No comments:
Good Friday was spent making a garden, it was good to put our work clothes on and get dirty! Lunch was naughty fish, chips, caramel tarts and Easter eggs.....YUM!

On Easter Sunday we visited The Hunter Valley Gardens for the big Easter egg hunt. They run them every 45 minutes, it is great to watch all the kids run around the beautiful gardens having a lovely time, meeting the easter bunny and collecting eggs.

Scarlett was the star of the day, she was SO excited with the Easter egg hunt she filled a bag. We thought that it would be more for Fletcher, and yes, he did have fun but Scarlett was in her glory with chocolate, food, grass to roam on and, um....more chocolate!

Best Easter Present...My grandmothers overlocker. I have made a few things for Scarlett lately and she thought that I would use it more than her. I have sewn on and off Check Spellingall my life but feel the need to learn properly so I can pass on the skill to Scarlett. I made the pinafore above on Easter Saturday out of scraps that where laying around, not perfect by any means but I am still proud that I made it myself, read the pattern and had a special gift from my grandmother to make it more special.
This must have been all too much as I felt unwell for the next few days...too much chocolate I think and still a shelf full....

Flirty Friday

No comments:
I apologise for missing last Friday and not flirting with a great brand but we where busy building gardens, eating chocolate, fish and chips (all the great stuff!) to celebrate Good Friday. Photos to coming soon.....

I had the pleasure of coming across Mini Whisk when owner, Anastasia, contacted me for hints and tips on training little girls to wear and love their hair accessories as she was having trouble with the daughter. Once I visited the site I knew it had to be my next Flirty Friday!

Mini Whisk is designed and made in Melbourne Australia, they offer a flat rate shipping of a mere $8!
You will find a great range of aprons, smocks and cooking utensils as well as fabric buntings and babushka dolls that are new for 2009. ( I am VERY partial to Russian dolls!). I even came across a gardening set which we could have used on our Good Friday celebration! Stop in and take a look, you won't be disappointed with what is on offer.

Happy Easter

Hair Obsession

I thought that it was about time that I show why I was destined to create Flirty Bird..... I took a trip over to mum's house through the week and found some photo's of me as a child and young adult.....
That's me on the right - double bows! Too cute.
Another party, another ribbon.... side pony - still a big fan, just not up so high!
Ribbons for hanging around the house..... I should explain that my sister is on the right - she gave herself a few bad haircuts in her younger years which had to be fixed by the hairdresser - that explains the lack of bows on her head!
OK this is a little bit out of control... over the rocks fishing and I still manage to get a ribbon in!
(Swimmers handmade by mum!)
Just to show you the length of my hair for most of my life.
Even when handmade wasn't cool I was making (rather ugly) headbands on mums sewing machine...luckily I have improved a little!

In my early 20's just after I had my hair cut off....today my hair is at my shoulders and to be truthful a little disheveled at most times! I am trying to grow it out and it is at its most awkward stage! Fingers crossed that I stick to it and can post long hair photos once again at the end of the year.....stay tuned.

Taronga Zoo

A few weekends back we took the kids for their first trip to the zoo! Fletcher absolutely loved every minute of it and looked at me in amazement when I told him the day before that he would see a Giraffe. It was great to watch him get so excited as he loves animals. Scarlett on the other hand got very excited at the ducks (the first thing we saw) and then had a lovely sleep! I think the highlight of the day was her ice cream cone - she ate it in two minutes flat, even the cone - with only two teeth we where amazed at the precision! We even tried to take it away when she had eaten half but she protested wildly until we gave it back. Here are a few photo's from such a great day...

Flirty Friday

No comments:

I have decided to start a little ritual called Flirty Friday....I love to shop and love to chat to other mums that sell their handmade goods just as I do. So I have decided to 'flirt' with one brand each Friday to highlight talent, mainly in Australia but from around the world too.

The first gorgeous brand is Mimoo. What a cute name!
Mimoo is a fresh contemporary approach to much needed baby items and only uses 100% cotton. Now we all know that I am a fabric FREAK. If I never bought another piece of fabric for my shop I think my stash could see me out! Mimoo has the cutest fabric of spots (My all time favourite!!) and apples are among the lovely prints.

The play rugs and pj's start from just a mere $15USD with very reasonable postage.

Your baby will love them!
Apart from the lovely items for sale Mimoo has a great blog and even though it is quite new I have found it a good read when trying to unwind from a busy day of orders, cleaning and children entertaining!
I hope that you love Mimoo as much as I do and pop over to support such a lovely Australian handmade brand.

Until Next Friday.......Flirt away!
